 Handy Tips & Ideas For Use ::

 

1) Sterilise make up brushes, thermometers and other personal items

As the ideal general use steriliser/ sanitiser, you can use 70% Isopopyl alcohol to safely disinfect various personal items. Soak items in alcohol for 30 minutes and allow to air dry.  Repeat frequently as needed.

 

2) Nail Fungus / Athletes Foot

If you want to confidently display beautiful feet, especially in sandal season, you can effectively fight nail fungus by soaking your feet in equal parts water and alcohol.  It can be drying to the skin so use this tip with discretion. Rubbing your feet daily with the alcohol can also help prevent athlete’s foot.

 

3) Sore muscles and joints

If you live a very active lifestyle you are bound to experience muscle and joint pain from time to time. As an excellent therapeutic pain reliever, Rub 70% Isopropyl alcohol on aching muscles and joints. Once again take care as it can dry out skin with overuse.

 

4) Ear wax removal

As a safe way to remove earwax, dab equal parts alcohol and vinegar into the ear to soften and gently remove wax. Repeat every other week to maintain clean ears.

 

5) Swimmers ear

Australians, and especially Australian kids absolutely love the water, as a result swimmers ear can be a common problem.  Pouring a little alcohol into the ear helps evaporate the water and prevent infection.

 

6) Hand sanitiser

For an economical and effective hand sanitiser, mix together 3 parts rubbing alcohol and 1 part aloe vera gel.

 

 7) Removing ticks

To remove ticks from pets (and the 2 legged members of the house as well!) dab with rubbing alcohol and grip the tick with tweezers as close to the skin as possible.  Wipe the area with alcohol to disinfect.

 

 8) Sooth mosquito bites

Dab alcohol onto the site of the bite to relieve itching and help the healing process.

 

 9) Cold Sores

If you suffer the discomfort of unsightly cold sores, dab alcohol onto the sore to aid the healing process

 

 10) Window cleaner

Want sparkling, streak free windows? To make a highly effective and economical widow cleaner, mix ¼ cup rubbing alcohol, 2 tablespoons ammonia, 3 ½ cups water and a drop of dish soap

 

 11) Remove grease from carpet

Think there is no hope for this situation? No need to panic if something greasy has found its way onto your carpet!  Simply apply rubbing alcohol to a rag and lightly rub the stain to lift it.

 

12) Eyeglasses

To keep glasses clean and smudge free for longer, lightly spray them with rubbing alcohol and wipe away with a soft cloth.

 

13) Jewellery

To give jewellery back that special sparkle, soak in alcohol for a few minutes then polish with a soft clean cloth.

 

14) Dust mites/bed bugs

For complete peace of mind and reduction in allergies, lightly spray a mist of rubbing alcohol onto the mattress to kill those critters, allow to dry, then vacuum.

 

15) Air freshener

No need to get the expensive stuff!  Make your own effective air freshener by mixing 1 cup rubbing alcohol with 10-15 drops of an essential oil of your choice.

 

16) Candles

Everyone loves candles but wax is extremely difficult to clean … not anymore! Simply use alcohol on a damp rag to get rid of dust and grime.

 

17) Stretch shoes

To help with stretching a new pair of shoes, apply a thin coat of the alcohol to the interior and exterior, then place on your feet or a shoe stretcher.

 

18) Remove odours

To remove odours from hands (chopping onions or garlic anyone?) rinse with rubbing alcohol. Also effective for shoes (yes even your teenage sons …) simply spray with rubbing alcohol and place in a sunny spot to dry.

 

19) Underarm deodorant

Keep those delicate underarms fresh and go about your day with confidence … Add 15 drops of your chosen essential oil to a fine mist spray bottle filled with rubbing alcohol.  Just avoid applying immediately after shaving … ouch!
